CYLEXPERT
the estimation tool tied to an Expert System was developed on the assumption that
under the appropriate conditions mass transfer induced flow effects in one geometrical
configuration such as a pipe can be modeled by flow in the rotating cylinder electrode.
Such modeling could enable flow affected corrosion in the field to be examined in the
laboratory. The background and conditions for using this rotating cylinder electrode tool
are presented in more detail in this tutorial and when you enter this tool. In summary
this interactive tool provides an estimate of the range of operating rotation rates
within which your rotating cylinder electrode might have the best chance of modeling
the mass transfer affected corrosion mechanism in your field configuration. Note that
the calculated rotation rate range may be outside of the operating range of your
rotating cylinder electrode apparatus.
